How can I hear SHR?
Scunthorpe Hospital Radio can be heard by patients and staff at Scunthorpe General Hospital, based in North Lincolnshire.
We can be heard on channel six of the PatientLine service and can be contacted from the patient bedside by dialing *800 for free.
|
Who runs SHR?
Scunthorpe Hospital Radio is run by volunteers, no-one gets paid a penny for working at the station.
We have our own constitution, with the station being looked after by our committee, voted in annually by the full membership. Members are nominated to stand for elections at our AGM, held each May.
|
How is SHR funded?
Scunthorpe Hospital Radio is funded entirely by charitable donations and fundraising activities.
You'll often see us out and about across North Lincolnshire, raising funds.
Our biggest event of the year is our annual bedpush, held in Scunthorpe Town Centre each December.

Can I make a donation?
We always welcome donations - large or small.
Contributions are regularly received from individuals, businesses, former patients of their relatives.
|
Who can join?
We welcome volunteers of all ages, sadly however for security and insurance reasons, we are unable to recruit volunteers under 17 years of age.
There is no upper age limit! All volunteers will be subject to security checks with the Criminal Records Bureau due to the nature of our work within the NHS.
|
How much time would I have to devote?
As much or as little as you can afford.
Usually we ask for a couple of hours a week but understand you may not always be available to help out.
